Major League Cricket has announced its dates for the inaugural edition set to be organized in July 2023. The first edition of Major League Cricket will be organized between July 13 and July 30 After several years of delays.
Major League Cricket finds July 2023 window for the inaugural edition
American Cricket Enterprises had secured the rights to own and operate a flagship T20 league in USA three year back. However, the league kept on getting delayed. The ACE have announced the window between July 13 and July 30 next year for the inaugural edition of MLC.
The 18-day tournament will have the newly renovated venue outside of Dallas, Texas as the primary location for MLC’s first edition. The six franchise teams will represent New York, Washington DC, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle.
” Next summer, the eyes of world cricket will be on the launch of Major League Cricket, with the stars of the game competing over three weeks of fast-paced T20 action. The launch of MLC will transform American cricket and provide one of the best platforms in the sport for the world’s most elite players to showcase their skills,” Justin Geale, MLC Tournament Director, said.
Several IPL franchises have shown interest in acquiring the ownership rights of these six franchises. SRK’s Knight Riders is already a part of the Major League Cricket as they’re teaming up with the MLC to construct a brand-new 10,000-capacity cricket ground in Los Angeles. Los Angeles will represent one of the six franchises of the tournament. KKR believes there’s a huge future of cricket in the USA.

According to ICC’s FTP, international players from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and West Indies will remain available for the league. This will certainly add to the glory of the first edition of Major League Cricket. MLC will be preceded by two complete seasons of Minor League Cricket.
The USA will also co-host the T20 World Cup 2024 along with West Indies and the MLC before the World Cup would be a great opportunity to build interest towards cricket in the USA and develop facilities of the international level.
