On Sunday, during the 3rd T20 match of the series both Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer almost entered the ground at the same time. After the fall of Shikhar Dhawan’s wicket, miscommunication between Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant created confusion. Shreyas Iyer had already started walking to the ground and behind him, Rishabh Pant too was heading towards the ground.
Virat Kohli on Rishabh Pant Iyer Confusion
A call from the dressing stopped Shreyas Iyer and he returned back to the pavilion. After which Rishabh Pant joined Virat Kohli on the pitch as no.4 batsman. In the post-match press conference, the question about the miscommunication was asked from Virat Kohli. On this Indian skipper said, “I think there was a miscommunication. That was what I understood afterwards. The batting coach had a word with both of them. There was a misunderstanding over who has to go at what stage,”
Virat Kohli told that the management had decided if the 2nd wicket falls before the 10th over then Shreyas Iyer will come and if the wicket falls after the 10th over then Rishabh Pant will come. The wicket fell before the 10th over and in this case, Shreyas Iyer had to come to bat. But the confusion created by both batsmen ended up change in plan and Rishabh Pant played at no.4 yesterday.
However, Virat Kohli found this incident hilarious, he further added, “It was a little funny as well afterwards because they both wanted to walk in. So it would have been very funny if both reached the pitch, you know three batsmen in the field.” But, Pant coming at to bat at no,4 is not helping team India. The 21-year old is continuously making mistakes and has failed to live up to the expectations.
