Team India is on one of the most difficult assignments down under currently. The first ODI was played on Friday in Sydney which India lost by a big margin of 66 runs. This was also the first time the team competed for points in the World Cup Super League. A Twitter user mentioned India losing points because of slow over rate, however Ranji star Wasim Jaffer came up with the best reply.

Team India looked a bit stiff on the field as they missed a lot of chances, aiding Australia to a mammoth score of 374. It was clear after the match that the Indian team has to put their best foot forward if they want to make a mark and win against the well settled Australian team. Even the top order barring Shikhar Dhawan looked in a hurry to play shots.

India has already qualified for the World Cup: Wasim Jaffer

The only silver lining in Indian inning was the performances of Hardik Pandya and Shikha Dhawan, who scored 74 and 90 respectively. The inning started fantastically with both Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan going all guns blazing, but the former played one shot too many and got out.

Indian team lost their top order in quick succession however, Dhawan and Pandya steadied the inning and kept themselves in the game till the 39th over before Pandya got out.

All the international teams will be competing for points in the ICC World Cup Super League in order to qualify for the 2023 World Cup. A Twitter user mentioned in a tweet how team India will lose 1 point because of the slow over rate. Wasim Jaffer was quick to respond to the tweet as he pointed out how India has already qualified for the World Cup as they are going to host the tournament.

It was definitely an apt reply to the tweet. Team India will be playing the second ODI on 29th Nov in Sydney. They have surely got their task cut out for them. Virat Kohli & Co. would love to bounce back and stay alive in the series.
