The Duleep Trophy final dominated by the West Zone witnessed a controversial incident on the final day as Yashasvi Jaiswal was asked to leave the field by West Zone’s skipper Ajinkya Rahane.
South Zone batter, Ravi Teja was constantly having issues with the verbal volleys being launched on him by Jaiswal on the fifth and final day of the Duleep Trophy 2022 final being played between West Zone and South Zone in Coimbatore.
Jaiswal asked to leave the field by Skipper Rahane
The West Zone opener had a verbal altercation with South Zone batter Ravi Teja and the latter took the matter to the on-field umpires. The on-field umpires warned Jaiswal for his inappropriate behavior as Rahane calmed down the youngster.
However, Jaiswal didn’t abide by his skipper’s words and continued the verbal banter with Ravi Teja during the 57th over of the innings.
This led the veteran India batter to take matter seriously and he asked his teammate to leave the field. Jaiswal looked animated with Rahane’s involvement and didn’t like his Skipper’s decision to ask him leave the field.
Ajinkya was lauded for his bold move of sending his own team mate off the field in order to maintain the spirit of the game. which is a rare occurrence on the cricket field.

West Zone Skipper’s bold move left them with just 10 players on the field as they were not allowed a substitute fielder in place of Jaiswal by the on-field umpires.

Earlier, the young Mumbai opener smashed a breathtaking knock of 265 in mere 323 balls in the second innings taking the game completely away from the hands of South Zone.
Jaiswal was named the Player of the Match for his scintillating knock which eventually turned the final into a one sided affair as West Zone beated South Zone by 294 runs.
