The ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 kickstarted on 04th March with the first clash between New Zealand Women and West Indies Women. The inauguration of the Women’s World Cup 2022 coincided with a tragic event in the form of unfortunate demise of Shane Warne. On Saturday, Australia Women faced off with England Women and the Australian spinner Alana King pays tribute to Warne by almost recreating Warne’s ball of the century.
It was a real unfortunate day on 04th March for the whole cricketing world as the game lost one of its most celebrated cricketers in Shane Warne. The whole cricket fraternity and fans around the world were in utter shock when the sad news broke. In the 3rd match of the Women’s World Cup, the players were seen wearing black armbands in the honour of the late cricketer. Apart from that, Alana King created a moment which was a fitting tribute to the King of Leg Spin who left the world on Friday.
Alana King pays tribute to Shane Warne
The moment came in the 28th over of the England Women inning when they were chasing the target of 311 against Australia Women. Alana King, the right-arm legbreak bowler flighted the third delivery of the over which seemed to go down leg and the batter Tammy Beaumont danced down the pitch to tackle the delivery.
However, the batter was beaten in flight as the ball took a sharp turn and missed Beaumont’s bat. Ultimately, the batter was stumped by the keeper which brought a crucial breakthrough for the team.

Alana King was exultant having taken the wicket and pointed towards the black band on her arm, seemingly paying tribute to the leg-spin legend. The video of the moment has gone viral on the internet and the fans are amazed to see the excellent ball. Australia Women won their first encounter of the World Cup by 12 runs and will be playing Pakistan Women next on 08th March.
