Pakistan national cricket team are locking horns with the Sri Lankan national cricket team in the second and final Test match at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo. Earlier, Babar Azam and Co drew first blood in the Test series by beating the hosts by 4 wickets at Galle International Stadium, Galle.
Coming to the second Test, Pakistan are once again in the driver’s seat against the Sri Lankans. Earlier, Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne won the toss and opted to bat first. The hosts neither played the game with intent nor had the tenacity to put up a decent total as they were skittled out for a mere 166.
Had it not been for Dhananjaya de Silva’s 57 in the lower middle order, Sri Lanka’s situation would have gotten a bit worse. On the contrary, Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah ripped through the defence of Sri Lanka’s batting line-up by taking four wickets and three wickets respectively.
Babar Azam plays an innovative shot during SL vs PAK Test in Colombo
During Pakistan’s innings, skipper Babar Azam took everyone by surprise by playing a unique shot, that hasn’t been played by any batsman consciously before. While the majority of the fans lauded Pakistan’s run-machine for his shot, others weren’t convinced by the shot as they termed it “pure luck” or “accidental”.
The video clip begins with Babar Azam attempting to hit the ball against fast bowler Asitha Fernando in an unusual way before he makes up his mind not to play the ball as he just lifts his bat. Needless to say, the batsman gets a connection with the ball as the red leather beats the slip fielders between first slip and gully for four runs.

The video clip of Babar Azam’s innovative shot has been doing the rounds on social media. Based on a thorough examination of the video clip, we can deduce that Babar Azam’s shot wasn’t accidental but is indeed innovative. The Pakistan captain intentionally tried to play the shot and ended up succeeding in the first place.
Babar Azam scored 39 runs (4 fours and a six) before he was trapped for a leg-before wicket off Prabath Jayasuriya. Abdullah Shafique top-scored with 201 (19 fours, 4 sixes). At the time of writing this piece, Pakistan scored 563/5 in 131 overs, with Agha Salman and Mohammad Rizwan batting on 132 and 37 respectively.
