R Ashwin has been part of several mankading incidents in the past, one of them came against his current captain Jos Buttler.
During the time when Ashwin was part of the Punjab Kings franchise, he pulled off a cheeky mankad against Jos Buttler. The Rajasthan Royal’s opener was almost taking the game away from Punjab Kings when Ashwin did an unexpected thing.
At that time Ashwin was criticized big time but the player defended his point quite well. The act of Mankad is totally under the laws of the game but some people think that it hinders the spirit of the game.
Now almost three years of that incident Ashwin got another opportunity to Mankad a player but this time it was his fellow countrymen.

Just an over after the batting powerplay ended Ashwin was called into the attack where he could have broken the partnership of 61 runs. Despite the golden opportunity offered to him he refuses to take it as his International team teammate Shikhar Dhawan was at the receiving end.

The cameraman didn’t miss a chance to show Jos Buttler instantly after the Mankad warning. The English captain didn’t look pleased with all after that incident, he was having a very rough look on his face.

The crowd started hooting the moment Buttler’s face came on the big screen. Dhawan was way out of his crease and he was only batting on 15 runs at that time.
Punjab Kings wins a last-over thriller at Baraspara Stadium
Ashwin’s missed opportunity of Mankading proved costly as Shikhar Dhawan belted 86 runs off 56 deliveries. Punjab Kings reached a huge total of 197 runs with the help of their opening batter’s incredible innings.
In reply, Rajasthan fell short of 5 runs despite Hetmyer and Jurel’s brave effort.
