In the IPL clash between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium, one moment stood out and quickly went viral. It came off the bat of Cameron Green, and it was as clean as it was powerful.
Green picked a length ball and hit straight through the line. There was no hesitation in the shot. The ball travelled flat and cleared the boundary with relative ease before it crashed into a display car placed inside the stadium.
The impact left a clear dent, and within seconds, the crowd reacted. Social media followed immediately. It looked dramatic, but the shot itself was simple cricket done right. This was not a wild swing. Green stayed balanced, kept his shape, and trusted his strength. That is what made the difference. When a batter gets those basics right, the result often looks effortless, even when it causes visible damage outside the field.

More importantly, this moment came at the right time for Green. He had not been consistent in the matches leading up to this game. There was pressure around his place, and expectations were rising with every outing. In such situations, players either overcomplicate things or go back to basics. Green chose the second approach.
“He didn’t try anything fancy. He just backed his game,” a commentator observed during the broadcast. That approach showed in his innings. Green built his knock with patience early on. He avoided risky shots at the start and focused on timing rather than power.
Once he settled in, he began to open up. The six that hit the car came during this phase, where he went on to score 79 off 55 balls, laced with 7 fours and 4 sixes. Green has shown what he can do. That has never been the question. The real question has always been consistency. Talking about the game, KKR were bowled out for 180 in their quota of 20 overs.
The Gujarat Titans chased down the target and won by 5 wickets. Shubman Gill was the pick of the batters for the Ahmedabad-based franchise, wherein he scored 86 off 50 balls, laced with 8 fours and 4 sixes.
They recently notched up a win over Rajasthan Royals in the away fixture. The three-time IPL champions who suffered a string of defeats have finally managed to win their first game of the season.

As things stand, KKR are ninth on the points table with one win and five defeats, followed by a no-result. “First of all, really happy to be here. I got five extra minutes after the game. Feels really good. There were a lot of emotions going on during the game, but personally, I’m really happy for Rinku Singh, Anukul Roy, and Varun Chakaravarthy as well. The way he bowled in the middle today, Varun was going through a tough phase, but in the last three games, he’s been bowling fantastically. Rinku Singh again; he was going through a tough phase mentally. Really happy to see him finishing the game. And Anukul Roy, he had a fantastic domestic season; he’s a very confident guy. We wanted to give him that opportunity. Today, he couldn’t bowl because of the left-hand-right-hand combination. But really happy to see how both of them, they batted that partnership for us.
Talking about conversations with the players, he said, “Most of the practice sessions, we do have common conversation. I like to have one-on-one conversations rather than talking in the groups. Even all the coaches, they have been talking to the players. It’s about reading the situation well. I feel cricket is a simple game. If you keep it really simple, rather than thinking far too ahead. I thought this victory will probably give us that confidence as a team because bowling-wise, I felt we’ve been doing really well.
In the last three games, the bowlers are coming nicely together. They’re bowling in partnership, bowling as a unit. Batting-wise, yes, there are areas we can still improve. But again, as I said, there’s lots to take positive from this game. So, really happy with the victory,” Rahane added.
