Yesterday, Australia faced Sri Lanka in what was both sides’ 2nd game in the ongoing T20 World Cup. When Sri Lanka posted 154 on the board, it looked like the chase will be tough for the Aussies. Especially since Aaron Finch and David Warner looked severely out of form. However, such wasn’t the case.
The destructive duo fired in unison and plundered 70 runs off the first seven overs, effectively killing the match. Australia eventually chased the target with three overs left as David Warner roared back to his fiery best. The SRH discard turned out to be Australia’s wrecker-in-chief with his stroke-filled 65.
David Warner removes Coca-Cola bottles from the table
About four months back, Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s actions had cost Coca-Cola a sum of 4 billion dollars. Appearing in a press conference during EURO 2020, he had removed Coca-Cola bottles from the conference table. Back then, his act had caused a ruckus in media, making one headline after the other.
David Warner chose to pay him homage with his gesture yesterday. When David Warner settled down for the post-match conference, two Coca-Cola bottles were present on the table, along with two water bottles. Warner was in a fun mood after his return back to form and chose to remove both the soft-drink bottles off the table view.
Apparently, he had to put them back on the table within seconds, as someone far across the conference hall signaled him to do so. “Do I have to put them back here?” inquired Warner, seeking confirmation before obliging to the request.

“If it’s good enough for Cristiano, it’s good enough for me,” joked Warner… Indirectly, he wanted to remind the conference participants that no objections were made when Ronaldo did the same. Regardless, it is heartening to see another influential personality taking a stand against a soft-drink company. Any soft drink’s sugar-rush doesn’t really help much, nor does the strong acidic content make it a healthy treat.
