The third ODI between India Women and Australia Women had every snippet of spice to entertain the fans. There was one moment that people will remember for a long time. Indian women’s cricketer Deepti Sharma pulled off a one-handed blinder to dismiss Grace Harris.

Cricket often gives us moments that stay in our minds longer than the scorecard. Deepti Sharma’s catch was one of those.

In the 45th over, Harris went hard at a full delivery, smashing it back with force. Normally, that ball would have raced past the bowler. But Deepti stuck out her left hand, and somehow the ball stuck right in the middle of her palm.

Blink and you miss it! 👀 Another one for Deepti Sharma 🔥

The stadium roared. Players rushed in. Harris could not believe her luck. India suddenly had energy again, and fans had something to cheer for. These moments don’t just add wickets to the board; they lift a team’s spirit.

Before Deepti’s brilliance, Australia had already done the damage. Beth Mooney was unstoppable. She hammered 138 from just 75 balls, finding boundaries at will. She reached her century in 57 balls, leaving bowlers with no answers.

Georgia Voll supported her with 81 off 68, and together they built a total that looked beyond reach. Australia were racing, scoring 50 inside six overs, 100 before the 14th, and 400 by the 47th. Even though India managed to take late wickets, the Australians still finished with 412. It was brutal batting, and India knew they would need something special.

Players from both teams gave absolutely everything to create records. In fact, it was a chase that kept the fans at the edge of their seats at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

India Women did not go into their shell. Smriti Mandhana went all guns blazing as she played a gem of an innings. She scored the fastest hundred by an Indian woman. With Harmanpreet Kaur at the other end, India suddenly looked in control of the chase.

At 206 for 2 in 20 overs, the dream was alive. The asking rate was under seven, and fans believed a record chase was possible. But cricket rarely runs in straight lines. India lost four quick wickets, slipping to 261 for 6. The collapse was heartbreaking. From being right in the game, they were left with too much to do.

Deepti Sharma tried to fight back with a quick fifty, but the target was too big. India were bowled out for 369 and were 43 runs short. Australia took the series 2-1.

Australia once again proved why they are the best team in women’s cricket. They have the players who can take games away in just a few overs, and they know how to close out matches.

For India, the defeat hurts, but it also brings hope. Mandhana’s batting showed the team has the firepower to chase even massive targets. Deepti’s all-round effort showed her value. The middle-order collapse was the big concern. It is something the team must fix.

Beth Mooney, who scored a quickfire century including 23 fours and a six was adjudged the Player of the Match. After the match, she said, “Was a really nice wicket. Volly and Pez got us off to a really nice start and had a big partnership, wanted to keep that momentum going. We were just out there batting, building a partnership, picking off the bowlers where we could. As the game went on, the total kept blowing out. We were aiming for 430 at one point, then 450, and sort of slowed down at the back end. We would’ve taken that at the start of the day to be honest. First and foremost just want to contribute to the team. Playing in these conditions and understanding them is really important going into a WC. Hopefully they’re not all as flat as that wicket and it doesn’t feel like a T20 for 100 overs.”
