The third and final INDW vs BANW ODI on July 22 witnessed quite a few controversial decisions including the LBW decision of Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. The Indian captain was quite furious after being given out by the on-field umpire as she smashed stumps and lashed out at the umpire showing her frustation over the decision.
Bangladesh had posted a competitive total of 225 runs courtesy of opening batter Fargana Haque’s brilliant ton. The Indian Team too got off to a decent start but somehow completely lost the momentum towards the later phase of the innings.
Harmanpreet Kaur gets furious with umpire’s decision in third INDW vs BANW ODI
In the 34th over of the Indian innings, Harmanpreet Kaur attempted to play a sweep shot against Bangladesh spinner Nahida Akter. However, she couldn’t make any contact with the ball. Akter confidently appealed for LBW and the on-field umpire immediately raised his finger.
However, Harmanpreet was furious with the decision as she couldn’t believe she was given out LBW. The Indian skipper smashed stumps with her bat as she looked pretty disappointed with the decision made by the on-field umpire.

Rude behaviour from Indian Cricket Women's captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Pathetic to see hitting the stumps with the bat and gesturing with the umpires pic.twitter.com/lUJulaSh5g

She continued to argue with the umpire while going back towards the pavilion. The experienced campaigner then gestured towards her bat, indicating she had hit the ball before it had made contact with her pad.
Meanwhile, the ball had gone up in the air and the slip fielder took an easy catch. However, the official mode of dismissal recorded on the scorecard was lbw.
After Harmanpreet Kaur’s dismissal, the Indian women’s team completely lost the momentum in their innings. Harleen Deol too lost her wicket soon after playing a stellar knock of 77 runs off 108 deliveries as the Indian side lost their next 5 wickets within 34 runs.
Jemimah Rodrigues remained unbeaten after scoring 33 off 45 deliveries but she kept losing partners on regular intervals. The match eventually ended in a tie after Marufa Akter dismissed Meghna Singh on the third delivery of 49th over of the third INDW vs BANW ODI.

Harmanpreet Kaur didn’t hold back her frustration during the post-match presentation ceremony as well. The Indian captain stated, “Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised. The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we’ll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly, we’ll have to prepare ourselves.”
