In the Australia vs India Test match at Brisbane’s Gabba, Rohit Sharma and co. are currently on the backfoot. However, after four days of play, the match seems to be heading towards a draw. Indian fans owe their relief to the partnership between Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, which helped India avoid the follow-on and ensured Australia would have to bat again in the second innings.
Jasprit Bumrah smashed Pat Cummins for an impressive six
Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep have stitched together a 39-run partnership and will resume on the fifth day as India’s final batting pair. Akash Deep has scored a quick 27 runs off 31 balls, while Bumrah remains unbeaten on 10. During the innings, Bumrah showcased his batting prowess by hitting a six off Pat Cummins.
In the 67th over of the innings, Pat Cummins attempted a short delivery but strayed from his line. Bumrah pounced on the opportunity and sent the ball over the boundary. Just a day earlier, a reporter had made a light-hearted comment about Jasprit Bumrah’s batting skills. The reporter asked the 31-year-old bowler for his thoughts on India’s batting in the ongoing Gabba Test. The reporter added, “Although you might not be the right person for this question.”
Jasprit Bumrah gave an epic reply to this. He said, “It’s an interesting question. But you are questioning my batting ability. You should use Google and see who has got the most number of runs in a Test over. But, jokes apart, that’s another story.” Hearing this, the entire room burst into laughter.

It is Bumrah who holds the record for scoring the most runs in a single over in Test cricket. During the Edgbaston Test in 2022, Bumrah smashed 35 runs in an over bowled by Stuart Broad, breaking Brian Lara’s long-standing record of 28 runs. Lara had set the record in 2003 against South Africa’s Robin Peterson.
