Indian Premier League (IPL) is headed towards the business end of the season and the teams are battling it out with full force to get a spot in the playoffs. The table-toppers Gujarat Titans faced the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 43rd game of the season (RCB). An amusing event that took place in the first innings as Mahipal Lomror was caught out but the decision was reversed as the ball hit a cable upon review after the onfield umpire consulted the third umpire.
Surprisingly, RCB captain Faf du elected to bat first after winning the toss. In the 19th over of the match Alzarri Joseph came out to bowl for the GT , the third delivery was dispatched into the sky by Lomror but the ball took a slight deflection and the ball was caught by David Miller.
The onfield umpire initially signalled out. However, Mahipal Lomror instantly pointed out that the ball hit a cable on its way to Miller. Umpire referred to third umpire, who took some time and then decided the ball did hit the spider can cable and decision was turned as ball was declared a dead-ball.
According to the rule if a ball hits the cable of any sort the ball is declared as dead-ball.

RCB who are struggling to get a win at the moment seems to find it difficult to score runs as the side from Bangalore were thrashed in the previous two matches. They did put a decent score on board ie 170/6 in 20 overs. It will be interesting to see if the table topers will be able to chase the total or not.
