In the ongoing England vs West Indies Test match at Nottingham, Mark Wood is showcasing his lethal pace. During the 2nd day of the match, the English speedster leaves Alick Athanaze bamboozled with a 156 KMPH rocket. The West Indies southpaw was hit by Mark Wood’s delivery on the helmet.
The incident happened on the last ball of the 46th over. Mark Wood bowled a short-pitched delivery from around the wicket. Athanaze tried to duck, but it didn’t rise much and hit his helmet. It could have been nasty if the ball had been kept lower. Even the non-striker Kavem Hodge felt the impact.
English players quickly checked on the West Indies batter, but Athanaze was unhurt. The incident didn’t deter his confidence; he went on to score 82 runs off 99 balls. A 175-run partnership between Athanaze and Hodge for the fourth wicket put the West Indies in the driver’s seat.
