The Indian captain won the hearts of everyone with his gesture of refusing the appeal. In the final over of the Sri Lankan Innings, the Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka was batting on 98 waiting to steal a single and come back on strike to complete his ton. Mohammad Shami was bowling the last over of the innings and at that moment he tried to attempt a cheeky Mankad against Shanaka who was way out of his crease.

Shami managed to Mankad Shanaka on 98 but his captain Rohit Sharma wasn’t pleased with the incident. Rohit instantly withdrew the appeal and laughed with Shami after the incident. The captain of India withdrew the appeal as Shanaka was on his to completing his century and India had very much already won that game.

After this incident, Rohit Sharma is getting praised by everyone around the world. His sportsman spirit is getting appreciated on the other hand Shami is facing some heavy criticism. Netizens were saying it was completely unnecessary for Shami to do such a thing.
Shanaka’s valiant century went in vain as India won the game by 67 runs
After the Mankad incident, Shanaka got back on strike and completed his century with a glorious boundary. In the last ball of the innings, Shanaka smashed a huge six in cow corner but it wasn’t enough to defeat India.
India posted a huge total of 373 runs on board thanks to Virat Kohli’s 73rd hundred in international cricket. Indian openers Rohit and Shubman Gill also scored a half-century to give India a solid start. Virat and KL Rahul finished the Innings well to take India to a mammoth total.

Sri Lanka in reply started the innings very poorly as they lost 3 wickets inside 15 overs. Pathum Nissanka played a disciplined inning of 72 but the standout effort was from the captain Shanaka who scored an unbeaten 108* off 88.
