The Test match in Cape Town between South Africa and India showcased the prowess of the Indian pacers. Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah emerged as the stars of the match, each claiming impressive 6-wicket hauls. South African batters struggled against Indian pacers and could face only 60 overs throughout the match. The match ended in just two days and India secured their first-ever Test match victory in Cape Town.
Mohammed Siraj earned the Player of the Match award for taking 6 wickets in the first inning which led to the Proteas being bundled out for just 55 runs. During the award presentation, when Siraj was called to receive his award, the presenter also invited Jasprit Bumrah to join as Siraj’s English translator. Given that Siraj is not fluent in English, his teammates assist him during presentation ceremonies.
However, Mohammed Siraj decided to surprise Bumrah by answering in English. Bumrah, in response, jokingly teased Siraj, saying, ‘Why did I come here then?’ Both players shared a laugh alongside the presenter. Later, Siraj made Bumrah’s presence felt as he switched to Hindi and also credited him.

“Jassi bhai Hamesha jaise start karte hain, ek message milta hai – kaun se wicket pe kaisa line and length better hai. Ussey mujhe zyada sochne ki zarurat nahi hoti, usi cheez pe work karunga toh” success milega. Who doosre end pe rehte hain to bohut his achha rehta ha,” Siraj said.

However, Jasprit Bumrah cut the part where Siraj praised something, which indeed was a class act. “So yeah, because when we play along together, he gets the message earlier because of your experience. We try to analyze the wicket quicker so that communication goes in the bowling circuit that this is the wicket and this is what we are looking to do. So that helps him sometimes,” Bumrah translated.
