After back-to-back losses against Babar’s Pakistan and Williamson led New Zealand, India’s qualification chances in the 2021 T20 World Cup are bleak. Their hopes of making it to the playoffs rests on other teams. While Pakistan has cruised through to a semi-finals berth, India is vying for a playoffs berth with New Zealand and Afghanistan. Therefore, they’re rooting for them to lose. They’re rooting for Namibia and Scotland to win.
The Scottish and Namibian know it too. When Scotland faced Kiwis, Matt Cross motivated countrymen Chris Greaves by referring to India’s support. The clip was always primed to go viral.
“Whole India is behind you Greavo:” Matt Cross’ funny chatter goes viral
With every indians’ hope pinned on them, Scotland faced New Zealand today. The Scotts won the toss and asked Kiwis to go and bat first, reducing them to 52 for 3 in the seventh over. In the 8th over, leg-break bowler, Chris Greaves, was handed the ball. As Glenn Phillips came on strike, Scotland’s wk-batter’s chatter got picked up from the stump mic. So how did he motivate Greaves for talking a wicket? Read on.
“Come on Greavo! Whole India is behind you here Greavo!,” exclaimed Matthew Cross, trying to fire Chris Greaves up. The video soon went viral across the country. It also garnered numerous reactions. Here’s the video.

India’s qualifications scenario
For India to qualify for playoffs, they have to win all of their upcoming matches. Then, they have to pray for favourable results. Apparently, that means they have to back teams like Scotland or Namibia to beat well-developed side in New Zealand. Therefore, when Cross said whole India is behind Greavo(and every other scottish player) it cracked up the whole nation. As expected, the video funny pep-talk took the internet by storm. Literally.
Coming back to the match, New Zealand beat Scotland by 16 runs and dented India’s qualification chances even further. Martin Guptill played a match-winning hand of 93 runs, winning Man Of The Match award in the process.
