Dindigul Dragons defeated Salem Spartans by 7 wickets in the TNPL game on July 3 at the Indian Cement Company Ground in Tirunelveli. In the Dindigul Dragons vs Salem Spartans clash, Aushik Srinivas made a schoolboy error as he went outside the boundary line to take a catch allowing a lifeline to R Kavin.
Aushik Srinivas takes a catch beyond the boundary line in TNPL
Salem Spartans batter R Kavin went all guns blazing right from the word go and made things difficult for the Dindigul bowling lineup. He smashed 3 boundaries in the 5th over bowled by pacer Saravana Kumar and kept all sorts of pressure on him.
Saravana Kumar then decided to bowl a bouncer on the final delivery of his over as R Kavin hooked it towards the fine leg region. Aushik Srinivas was placed at the fine leg boundary and the ball travelled straight into his direction as he was settling himself to take the catch.
However, Srinivas kept on moving backwards casually and eventually touched the boundary cushions and then took the catch outside the boundary line. R Kavin got a lifeline and was awarded a six as well courtesy of the schoolboy error made by the Dindigul Dragons’ fielder.
The video soon went viral across the social media platforms and netizens termed it as a ‘Lagaan’ moment. Remind you, the climax of the ‘Lagaan’ movie saw such a scene when a British fielder crosses the boundary line to take catch on the last ball. Even the commentator couldn’t believe the kind of mess Srinivas made on the boundary line.

“What he’s doing out there try for it from inside the boundary line. I can’t believe my eyes. Absolute lack of Awareness by Aushik Srinivas,” the commentator said on air as he looked completely shocked with the terrible mistake made on the boundary line.
R Kavin was eventually dismissed in the next over after he scored a quick-fire 25 runs off just 9 deliveries. Sunny Sandhu played a brilliant knock for the Salem Spartans and scored 57 runs off just 39 deliveries.
Salem Spartans eventually posted a competitive total of 160-6 in their 20 overs. Varun Chakaravarthy and Subodh Bhati took a couple of wickets each in the TNPL game against the Salem Spartans.
