The Indian team were clinical in their first of the series against South Africa. They dominated the Proteas since the first day and didn’t let the advantage slip from their hand till Day 5. Amidst team India’s great cricketing display, there was a little argument between the unhappy Indian players and the umpires regarding the new ball in the second inning of South Africa.
Play halts as Indian players were unhappy with the new ball
After team India was all out for 174 in their second inning, the Proteas had a huge target of 305 to attain a victory. Before a ball could be bowled, Ashwin took the new ball in his hand and he looked displeased with the cherry.
Soon the other Indian players gathered round the umpires and talked to them. The ball that was given to the Indian team was not the same ball that they had picked and that left the Indian players unhappy.
After the Indian players showed their displeasure, the 4th umpire came running with a box of new balls, which allowed the Indian team to pick the ball of their choice. There was a slight delay in the match due to the incident. Apparently, the Indian bowlers are in such a form that the change in the ball wouldn’t have mattered as they bowled fiery spells throughout the match.
