After MS Dhoni hung his boots on his international career, there was a great debate on who could be the successor to the legacy that Dhoni left. Virat Kohli was then appointed as the new full-time captain for the Indian team and the right-handed batsman carried Dhoni’s legacy forward with great enthusiasm. Though Kohli’s tenure as a captain was enthralling, he couldn’t win any ICC trophy and now an ex-India cricketer makes a big comment on the same.
Ex-India cricketer Sreesanth makes a big statement
MS Dhoni is regarded as one of the most successful captains the game of cricket has ever seen. The former Indian captain has all three major ICC trophies under his belt, which no other captain around the world can boast of. During his captaincy stint, Virat Kohli came close to ICC trophies, but could never lay his hand on one. Talking about the same, and ex-India cricketer makes a statement that has got the netizens talking.
Ex-India cricketer S Sreesanth, who was once a part of the Indian team has made a big statement as he thinks that if he was part of the Indian team under Kohli, the team would have had more ICC trophies to show. Talking to CricChat on ShareChat Audio Chatroom, Sreesanth said, “If I would have been a part of the team under Virat’s captaincy, India would have won the World Cup in 2015, 2019 & 2021.”

It is to note that Sreesanth bid goodbye to cricket earlier this year. For the uninitiated, the pacer played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is for India. He was once a much-talked-about bowler and the next big thing in Indian cricket, however, his career went on a downward spiral after his name was embroiled in a match-fixing scandal which took place in the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League. The pacer tried to make it back to the team but all his efforts went in vain and consequently, he drew curtains on his career this year.
