The recently-concluded World Cup match between England and South Africa saw a bizarre dismissal. England all-rounder Nat Sciver fell prey to a freak dismissal which can be counted among one of the weirdest.
Asked to bat first, England were off to a poor start, having lost their first two wickets for just 19 runs. Marching on the recovery road, Natalie Sciver and Tammy Beaumont looked to consolidate the innings.
However, just when their partnership was moving swiftly, an unusual dismissal resulted in Nat Sciver’s wicket. The incident happened in the 12th over of the first innings when the right-hander was completely deceived by a Masabata Klaas’ delivery. To her bad luck, the ball ricocheted off the back side of her side and landed straight on the hands of Lizelle Lee, who was stationed at the first slip.

The 29-year-old had to walk back to the pavilion after racking up 16 runs as the cricketing fraternity started talking about her unfortunate dismissal.

That dismissal of Natalie Sciver is a reflection of the kind of tour (Aus and NZ) England have had! #CWC22 #ItsABadDream #WhatIsEvenHappening

Talking about the match, England reached 235 runs on the back of the half-centuries coming from the bat of Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones. South Africa all-rounder Marizanne Kapp claimed a five-for and did not let the opposition register a big total on the scoreboard.
South Africa went about their run-chase cautiously. Opener Laura Wolvaardt took the matter in her own hands and played the lead role. Laura’s partnership with Tazmin Brits and Sune Luus; the finishing touches added by Marizanne Kapp made the difference as South Africa won the thriller by three wickets.
Both the teams have had contrasting fortunes in the tournament so far with England still searching for their first victory and South Africa staying unbeaten after playing three matches.
