The Indian Team qualified for the WTC final in the last two cycles. However, they couldn’t carry on the momentum in finals on both occasions. New Zealand defeated Team India by 8 wickets in the WTC 2021 final while they lost by 209 runs against Australia in the recently concluded WTC 2023 final.
The Rohit Sharma-led side will now try to move on from the disappointment they faced in the final played at the Kennington Oval in London. Their next game will be against West Indies beginning from July 12.
They will also miss the services of some of their key players in the first test series of the WTC 2025 India schedule. There is no update on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness as of now who hasn’t played for the Indian Team for quite some time now after he got injured last year.
Star keeper-batter Rishabh Pant will also take some time to recover from the injuries he suffered during a car accident last year. Shreyas Iyer had undergone back surgery while KL Rahul has undergone a thigh injury. All these injury issues might prove to be costly for the Men in Blue in the next WTC cycle.
