Jasprit Bumrah is a household name in the world of cricket and is surely one of the best in the business. The Indian pacer has made a mark for himself in international cricket owing to his brilliant performances in both white-ball and red-ball cricket. Kohli has been an ardent supporter of the bowler and has always backed him, however, as Parthiv Patel reveals, this was not the case when Virat Kohli first heard of the now lethal bowler.
Parthiv Patel reveals Virat Kohli’s first reaction on Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah has moved up the ladder of success in a short span of time which is a testament of his hard work and determination. He is amongst the most-feared bowlers of the present time in the international arena and his performance speaks volumes of it. Contrary to his present opinion of Bumrah, Virat Kohli wasn’t really keen to get him in his team in the Indian Premier League as Parthiv Patel reveals on Cricbuzz.
Parthiv Patel is a former RCB player who was with the team for quite a long period of time. He recalls that when he presented the idea of picking Bumrah for the RCB setup, Virat Kohli dismissed the idea instantly, without even giving it a thought. Parthiv Patel reveals that Kohli was not at all in favour of getting Bumrah in his team. He rejected the idea without even giving it a proper thought.
“In 2014, when I was at RCB, I told Kohli there’s this bowler named Bumrah. Have a look at him. Virat replied saying ‘Chhor na yaar, Ye Bumrah-Vumrah kya karenge?’ (Leave it. What will such players do?)”, Parthiv was quoted saying on Cricbuzz website. This was quite a revelation by the former RCB and Indian player. Since then, Bumrah has proved his mettle and has become one of the most dangerous bowlers to face.
