Zaheer Khan and Kevin Pietersen are considered among the greatest players of their time, both having dominated the cricket field in the past. They were also involved in on-field banter against each other, with the infamous jelly bean incident at Trent Bridge in 2007 being one such example. And even after 17 years, the banter between them continues.
Zaheer Khan humbles Kevin Pietersen
Currently, Zaheer Khan and Kevin Pietersen are part of Jio Sports’ commentary panel for the ongoing India vs England Test series. During the second test match, they engaged in banter. Bragging about his Test wickets, the former English batter said, ‘You know who else I’ve got in my pocket here? The great Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Right there, next to Kamran Akmal.’
He was recalling the 2007 Test match between England and India when he dismissed MS Dhoni on 92 runs. On the other hand, Kamran Akmal was his first-ever wicket. In Test cricket, MS Dhoni is among the ten victims claimed by Kevin Pietersen.
Although Zaheer Khan couldn’t resist his former captain being mocked in front of him. The former Indian bowler gave it back to Pietersen. Zaheer Khan retorted, “You know, I met Yuvraj Singh recently, and he was talking about Kevin Pietersen being in his pocket”

With this reply, Zaheer Khan touched the nerve of Kevin Pietersen, highlighting that Pietersen was Yuvraj Singh’s favorite victim. Throughout their careers, Yuvraj dismissed the English batter on multiple occasions, leading to Pietersen being humorously referred to as Yuvraj Singh’s bunny. After being humbled by Zaheer Khan, Kevin Pietersen responded, “Yeah, I knew it. I knew you were going to say that”
