Ashish Nehra and Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh is widely regarded as one of the greatest left-handed batsmen of all time. His remarkable career includes achievements such as winning the 2011 World Cup, securing the 2007 T20 World Cup, and achieving the rare feat of hitting six sixes in an over. However, Yuvraj faced challenges towards the end of his career, particularly after his battle with cancer, which led to a decline in his form.

Despite receiving lucrative IPL contracts, he struggled to make an impact in the cash-rich league. Yuvraj retired from the BCCI circuit in 2019, and since then, he has not garnered much attention from the cricket world.

While many retired players are pursuing coaching roles in the IPL or transitioning into commentary, Yuvraj Singh has not been seen in such roles. Following his exit from the IPL, he participated in various leagues, including GT20 Canada, Legends League Cricket, and the Road Safety World Series.

Ashish Nehra declined Yuvraj Singh a role in Gujarat Titans

It’s not that Yuvraj Singh is not keen to take any role in IPL. In a recent revelation, he shared that he approached his former India teammate and Gujarat Titans coach, Ashish Nehra, for a role in the franchise but was declined.

I asked Mr Ashish Nehra (Gujarat Titans) for a job, but he declined it. So, let’s see where else I can get a position, but at the moment, I have to balance. “So, definitely in the coming years, I want to give back to cricket and help the young guys get better. I can contribute a lot”, Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj Singh is looking forward to taking a coaching role, whether it’s in the IPL or with any other team. He is even ready to be the mentor for the Punjab domestic team. The 42-year-old former Indian cricketer wants to help the younger generation with the experience he possesses.

“Let’s see what opportunities I get, but my priority is my kids right now. Once they start school, I will have more time. so I can pick up (coaching). I love working with the young guys, especially my state boys, and I feel that mentoring is something that I would love to do, and definitely, to be part of one of the IPL teams, I’m definitely looking at,” Yuvraj Singh added.
