The BCCI has finally announced the venues for the IPL 2026 playoffs, and fans already have plenty to talk about. The biggest talking point is Ahmedabad getting the final once again. Many people expected Bengaluru to host the title clash this year, but the board decided to give the grand finale to Ahmedabad instead.
The playoff stage is always the most exciting part of the IPL season. One bad over or one brilliant innings can completely change a team’s season. This time, the BCCI has spread the playoffs across three different venues.
IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 in Dharamshala
The first playoff match will take place on May 26 at the stunning Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.
The top two teams in the points table will face each other for a direct place in the final. This match carries huge importance because the winner gets an immediate ticket to the title clash.
Dharamshala feels like the perfect venue for such a big game. Fast bowlers also get movement with the cool conditions. Fans love watching cricket in Dharamshala because the venue looks different from the usual crowded city stadiums. During evening matches, the view becomes even more special.
IPL 2026 Eliminator and Qualifier 2 in New Chandigarh
After Qualifier 1, the action will move to New PCA Stadium. The Eliminator will happen on May 27 between the teams finishing third and fourth in the league stage.
IPL history shows how dangerous Eliminator matches can become. Teams often play fearless cricket because they know there is no second chance. The same stadium will also host Qualifier 2 on May 29. The loser of Qualifier 1 will meet the winner of the Eliminator for the second spot in the final.
Qualifier 2 usually produces high-pressure cricket. Players feel the tension because they stand just one step away from the trophy clash. Fans have seen many last-over thrillers and dramatic finishes in this match over the years.

Ahmedabad to host the grand final
The IPL 2026 final will take place on May 31 at the massive Narendra Modi Stadium. This will be the fourth IPL final hosted at the stadium after 2022, 2023, and 2025. The venue has quickly become the first choice for big cricket matches in India.
The stadium’s size plays a major role in that decision. More than 100,000 fans can watch the match live from the stands, and the atmosphere during big games becomes unbelievable. When the crowd gets loud in Ahmedabad, players can actually feel the pressure rising.

Still, some fans may feel disappointed because Bengaluru missed out on hosting the final. Supporters of Royal Challengers Bengaluru hoped the city would get the biggest match of the season. Bengaluru always creates an electric atmosphere during IPL games.
But the BCCI clearly trusts Ahmedabad when it comes to handling huge events. For the record, the stadium has hosted ICC matches and IPL finals in recent years without major issues.
Meanwhile, the race for the playoffs is becoming tighter every day. Teams continue fighting for the top four spots. Moreover, the franchises also aim for a top-two finish because of the extra advantage in the playoffs.
The next few weeks could completely change the complexion of the competition. It will be quite interesting to see which teams add points to their tally in a bid to make it to the playoffs. Now that the playoff venues are official, fans can finally start looking forward to the biggest matches of IPL 2026.
