India’s recent tour to Ireland ended on an appalling note as they lost to the hosts in the two-match T20I series (2-0). Meanwhile, the action shifts to India’s tour of England, where the Men in Blue will play five T20Is followed by three ODIs. Fans are eager to watch the 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in action. There is another interesting story surrounding his England tour. Due to his age, Suryavanshi will follow a different routine from the rest of the squad off the field.
According to reports, Suryavanshi will use a separate changing room during India’s five-match T20I series in England. This is not a team decision but a requirement under safeguarding rules followed in the United Kingdom.
Why Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will have a separate dressing room
The regulations, jointly enforced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), apply to all cricketers below the age of 16. Since Suryavanshi is only 15, the rules make separate changing facilities mandatory during the tour.
The arrangement only affects where he changes before and after matches. It will not impact his role within the Indian team.
Suryavanshi will continue to attend team meetings, join strategy discussions, warm up with his teammates, and stay inside the dressing room during matches. The only difference is that he will use a separate area while changing to ensure all safeguarding guidelines are followed.
The ECB has also confirmed that venue officials and India’s team management are working together to implement the regulations throughout the series. Every venue will make the necessary arrangements to ensure the young batter’s comfort while meeting all required protocols.

Another important measure involves his family. Reports state that Suryavanshi’s parents will travel with him throughout the England tour. They will stay at the same hotel as the Indian squad, which will provide family support for him during his first overseas assignment with the national team.
Despite these special arrangements, the spotlight will remain firmly on Suryavanshi’s performances. If he gets an opportunity during the series, the teenage star will have the chance to begin his international career and justify the enormous excitement surrounding one of India’s brightest young cricket talents.
“This is an ICC event, with their safeguarding procedures active, as they have jurisdiction. A safeguarding concern occurring during the event may be managed by the ICC. In addition to this, the ECB Safe Hands policy applies at all times. The Cricket Regulator is in contact with the Team Liaison Officer (TLO) for the Indian team to discuss requirements and expectations for the player while he is in the UK. It is our understanding that the player’s parents will be travelling with him at all times. They are staying in the same hotel, which is outside of usual protocol, but agreed on this occasion due to his age,” the ECB said.
