India is set to host Cricket World Cup for the 4th time after the 1987, 1996, and 2011 editions. The 2023 World Cup holds significant expectations for Team India, given the advantage of home tracks and the enthusiastic support of the home crowd. South African cricket legend AB de Villiers has also added his perspective by favoring India as the top contender to clinch the title. During a recent interview, the 39-year-old cricketer shared his insights on the upcoming mega event, making his predictions for the four semi-finalists and ultimately, the tournament winner.
Notably, the previous three editions of the men’s World Cup have seen the host nation lifting the trophy. India claimed the title in 2011, followed by Australia in 2015, and England secured the maiden title in 2019 in Lord’s.
Among the 10 participating teams this year, India stands out as a strong contender for a spot in the semi-finals. AB de Villiers goes even further by expressing his belief that the Rohit Sharma-led team will lift the World Cup trophy.
“India is going to win ICC World Cup 2023” – AB de Villiers
During a Q&A session on his YouTube channel, the former Proteas batsman responded to various questions. When queried about his choices for the four semi-finalist teams, de Villiers selected India, Australia, England, and his home country South Africa. He also acknowledged that Pakistan holds a promising chance to secure a position in the top four.
“Definitely, India. I think they will go on to win it over there again. It’s going to be a fairy-tale World Cup. India, England, Australia – got to go with the big three. Then I want to go with South Africa, even though Pakistan have a really good chance as well. So the fourth team will be South Africa.”
“I’ve gone with three non-sub-continent teams there, which is very risky. But I am going to stick to it because I think the wickets will be good. I don’t think the World Cup is going to see bad wickets during the duration of the tournament,” AB de Villiers added.
AB de Villiers Predicted World Cup 2023 Finalists
AB de Villiers also made a prediction on the Finalists of the ICC World Cup 2023. He predicted India vs England as the title match of the event. Although, he backed South Africa to be one of the finalists and lift their maiden title on November 19.

“England and India in the final. If they can find each other in that final, I think that will be fantastic, even though I really want my South African boys to be there.” AB de Villiers said.
