Pakistani cricketer Sohail Khan made headlines in February 2023 after his comments about Virat Kohli. In an interview, the 39-year-old cricketer revealed his altercation with the Indian star. Sohail Khan claimed that during the 2015 World Cup match, he told Virat Kohli, ‘Beta jab tu Under-19 khel raha tha na, tera baap Test cricketer tha’ (Son, when you were playing Under-19 for India, your father was a Test cricketer). The comment drew criticism from Indian fans, who even mocked him, pointing out that Virat Kohli has more international centuries than Sohail has played international matches. Currently, Virat Kohli has 80 centuries, while Sohail Khan has represented Pakistan in just 21 matches.

In the match against Karachi Kings on February 29, he once again became the subject of ridicule after committing a costly mistake. Sohail bowled the 4th over of Karachi Kings’ innings, and Tim Seifert hammered him for a six and a boundary in two consecutive balls.
In the last ball of the over, Tim Seifert stepped out of the crease and defended it nicely. However, the ball, after a bounce, ended up in Sohail Khan’s hand. The bowler was visibly frustrated after conceding 10 runs in the previous two deliveries. He attempted to run Tim Seifert out, but the throw was nowhere near the target, and keeper Sarfaraz Ahmed couldn’t stop it. This mistake cost Quetta Gladiators 4 runs.Â

The 39-year-old bowler ended his spell conceding 36 runs in 4 overs and remained wicketless. Karachi Kings set a 165-run target for the Rilee Russow-led Gladiators. And they got the job done, all thanks to Sherfane Rutherford, who slammed 18 runs when 15 were required off the last over.
